Rocky Mount police are asking the public for help identifying a man accused of attempting to kidnap a woman on Saturday.
Investigators are distributing an image of the suspect from a surveillance camera near T.J. Maxx on Jeffreys Road. The suspect is described as a 5-foot-8 white man, weighing 180 pounds with blonde, grayish hair and light-colored eyes. He was wearing an Army green coat and jeans.
According to police reports, a 48-year-old woman was getting into her car in the parking lot when she saw a man attempting to hide in the back seat. The man reportedly demanded she move to the passenger side, but the woman ran away. Police said a witness chased the suspect who also ran from the car, but eventually lost track of the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Clay Wilder at 972-1454 or Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
