Englewood Elementary School was briefly put on a lockdown Monday morning as a precaution related to a search for an armed robber.

Rocky Mount police said officers responded to an armed robbery just before noon to Rocky Mount Treatment Center at 104 Zebulon Court. According to police reports, the suspect entered the business, threatened several employees with a handgun and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured. Police attempted to track the suspect with a K-9, but were unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall white man in his mid 30s with a medium to stocky build, brown hair and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Anyone who can identify the suspect from security images is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
