Police seek driver in hit-and-run that injured man on lawnmower

Authorities are hoping more witnesses will come forward with information about the driver of a vehicle who struck a man on a lawnmower Friday then fled.

According to police reports, N.C. Highway Patrol officers responded around 6:30 p.m. Friday to a hit and run wreck on N.C. 124 West in Edgecombe County. Officials said Lewis Reeves, 53, was driving a riding lawnmower when a vehicle struck him from behind. Reeves of Macclesfield reportedly was thrown from the lawnmower and taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. His condition Tuesday was unknown.

Authorities said a description of the driver or the vehicle was unavailable. Anyone with information is asked to contact N.C. Highway Patrol at 919-733-7952.
