Authorities are searching for a suspected armed robber after a Thursday morning incident.

According to police reports, a 30-year-old man was walking on the 1500 block of Memory Lane when he was approached by a man who threatened him with a handgun before running away with the victim’s lighter and money.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned 5-foot-10 to 6 foot tall black man, between 35 and 40 years old, between 160 and 180 pounds with a medium build, medium length curly hair. Police said the suspect was wearing a black jacket with a fur collar and blue and white jeans. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
