A 55-year-old man was charged Sunday in connection with stealing household goods from an elderly woman’s house.

Michael Donnell Raiford was charged with felony counts of residential breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering. Raiford was jailed in Edgecombe County under a $2,000 secured bond.

According to police reports, a neighbor called police around 2:30 p.m. to report someone was breaking into a house on the 800 block of Sycamore Street. Police said responding officers found Raiford walking away from the scene with $64 worth of bleach, toilet paper, a hair dryer, a power cord and duct tape.
