Police make early-morning gun, drug arrests outside restaurant

Rocky Mount police officers made several arrests early Saturday morning near the IHOP at 790 N. Wesleyan Blvd.

Police said officers stopped a vehicle around 2:30 a.m. and during a search of the car, officials said they found a handgun concealed under the seat. Tyshawn Rayvon Reams, 29, and Tony Andre Williams, 29, both of Scotland Neck were charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Both were served with outstanding warrants. Reams was held under a $4,000 secured bond while Williams was held under a $3,000 secured bond.

Officials said about 40 minutes later, officers were called to clear the parking lot of the restaurant. An officer said he saw a man drinking alcohol in his car and smelled marijuana burning. According to police reports, officers seized 56 grams of marijuana during a search of the car.

Clevon Demanche Johnson, 25, was charged with felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. He was issued a $2,000 secured bond.
