Rocky Mount police are asking the public for help in locating a man who allegedly sold a car for parts that he was supposed to repair and then eluded police after a chase.
A 43-year-old woman reportedly told police she left her 1991 Ford Explorer with Christopher Lee Silver, 28, for minor repairs several weeks ago. The woman allegedly tried to get the vehicle back several times, but Silver wouldn’t give her the SUV.
“The victim alleges the suspect sold the vehicle for parts,” a police report stated.
Police obtained felony larceny warrants Monday morning against Silver. Around 4 p.m. Monday, officers received information that Silver was seen driving a black Ford Taurus on Sunset Avenue.
According to police reports, officers saw Silver driving around May Drive and Sunset Avenue and tried to stop his vehicle. Police said Silver refused to stop, sped toward Sunset Avenue and Grace Street then jumped from the car and ran away. Police were unable to find Silver.
Authorities obtained warrants for felony flee to elude arrest and careless and reckless driving against Silver. He also is wanted for probation violations.
Anyone with information on Silver’s whereabouts is asked to contact Rocky Mount police at 972-1411 or Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
