Police look for three suspects in Saturday night shooting

Rocky Mount police are looking for three unknown suspects in connection with a shooting near the intersection of Western Avenue and South Vyne Street around 11 p.m. Saturday.

According to police reports, the unidentified victim was walking down Western Avenue and observed a white Ford Crown Victoria circling the neighborhood. One of the suspects allegedly exited the vehicle and fired a handgun multiple times at the victim, striking him in the buttocks. The victim reportedly ran to a neighbor’s house and called police.

He was treated and released from Nash General Hospital.

The suspect’s vehicle was last seen turning onto Nash Street from South Harris Street. The victim described the alleged shooter as a black man, between the ages of 16 and 18 years old, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He reportedly was wearing a white T-shirt and dark jeans.
