Rocky Mount police are investigating two Saturday shootings where the victim of one incident is the father of a suspect in the other.
Officers were called to the 100 block of Elaine Court around 11 a.m. Saturday in connection to gunshots being fired. According to police reports, Charles Lavon Davis Jr., 21, was having an argument with his girlfriend when he fired several rounds from a handgun as he was leaving the scene. No one was injured in the incident, but one bullet struck the unidentified victim’s vehicle.
Police obtained warrants against Davis for injury to personal property and discharging a firearm in city limits, but he remains at-large.
Almost two-and-a-half hours later, police were called to the 1500 block of Betz Street where Davis’ father, Charles Davis, 57, lives. Police said an unknown suspect shot at the elder Davis’ vehicle, striking the vehicle and the victim’s house.
Capt. Laura Fahne-stock said there could be a possible link between the cases but would not specify what that might be until investigators obtain warrants in the second incident.
Anyone with information about either incident or the whereabouts of the younger Davis is asked to contact Twin Counties Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
