Police investigate weekend robberies

Rocky Mount police are investigating a Sunday morning robbery and a Sunday night attempted robbery.

Authorities responded around 1:35 a.m. to a robbery that had just occurred at Domino’s Pizza on Independence Drive. An employee told police two suspects entered the store and stole an undisclosed amount of money at gunpoint before fleeing the scene. One suspect is described as a 5-foot-11 black man, weighing 160 pounds and wearing a dark blue coat.

Police responded to an attempted robbery shortly after 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Karim’s Food Mart on Atlantic Avenue. According to police reports, a 52-year-old man was in the car of his 2001 Nissan Sentra after closing the store when he was approached by two gunmen. Authorities said another vehicle entered the parking lot and the would-be robbers fled without stealing anything.
