In addition to naming Sgt. Ryan Hepler as Rocky Mount police officer of the year, the department honored two other employees for their contributions to the department.

Telecommunicator Doug Green, 26, was named the Telecommunicator of the Year and Animal Control Supervisor Willie Boykin was named the Civilian Employee of the Year. Green has been with the city for five-and-a-half years while Boykin, 41, has been working in animal control for six years.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the coworkers for taking the time to recommend the candidates and to detail their accomplishments in support of their nominations,” Police Chief James Moore said in a release.
