Police are following up on leads in an assault that sent a Rocky Mount man to the hospital.
The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. at Shell Food Mart on the 1300 block of West Raleigh Boulevard when a 31-year-old man reported he was assaulted by an unknown suspect armed with a knife. The assailant left the victim with several lacerations, which he received treatment for at Nash UNC Health Care.
“The case is under investigation,” police Cpl. Mike Lewis said. “Detectives are following up on leads about the identity of the suspect at this time.”
