Two suspects were arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly assaulting and stealing from a 27-year-old man in the Waffle House parking lot at 101 Rowe Drive.

According to police reports, Donald Eugene Parker, 23, allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck while Mario Jerel Hicks stole a radio and some CDs from the victim’s vehicle. Both suspects then fled in a brown Ford Crown Victoria traveling west on U.S. 64.

Rocky Mount police responded to the incident and released a description of the suspects and their vehicles to other law enforcement around the state. Halifax County Sheriff’s deputies located the vehicle and arrested the suspects.

Hicks was charged with larceny from a motor vehicle, and Parker was charged with simple assault. Both were placed in the Nash County jail under $500 secured bonds.
