Police arrested a Castalia man Wednesday more than a year after he is accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.

Rodney Lydell Richardson, 37, was charged with felony counts of first-degree sexual offense of a child and indecent liberties with a child. Richardson was jailed in Nash County under a $100,000 secured bond.

According to police reports, a teacher reported last May an alleged incident between the juvenile and her mother’s boyfriend between November 2011 and January 2012. Police interviewed the victim, who denied the assault, but the investigation was reopened recently after the victim repeated the allegation and warrants were obtained against Richardson.
