A Rocky Mount man was jailed early Sunday morning, accused of assaulting his girlfriend and holding her against her will.
William Stanley Silver Jr., 25, was charged with felony kidnapping, felony common law robbery, misdemeanor communicating threats and misdemeanor assault on a female. Silver was jailed in Edgecombe County under a $40,000 secured bond.
Tarboro police Sgt. Al Braxton said Silver was attending a party in Edgecombe County with his 27-year-old girlfriend when the two got into a dispute in his car. Braxton said the two drove back toward Rocky Mount, but Silver assaulted the woman, took her keys, threatened her and refused to let her leave. The woman eventually was released with minor injuries.
