Suspect in shooting at hotel sought by police

An Elm City man was wounded in a shooting at a local hotel early Sunday morning.

Authorities said a 46-year-old man was at the Ashburn Inn on N.C. 48 when he was shot while sitting in a 2010 Nissan Sentra. The victim reportedly fled the scene in his vehicle and was found a short distance away with a gunshot wound. Police said the victim was taken to Nash General Hospital for treatment, where his condition was unknown.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-11 black man in his twenties with long dreadlocks and wearing a red and white shirt. The suspect might have had a small silver car. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or
