Rocky Mount police charged a Princeville man Saturday with attempted murder.
Derrick Allen Braswell, 27, was charged with felony attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and misdemeanor discharging a weapon within city limits. He was jailed in Edgecombe County under a $500,000 secured bond.
Police Lt. Tim Mehus said Braswell got into an argument with Terry Hussey at a house Friday on the 700 block of Arlington Street, and Braswell shot at Hussey, firing multiple shots and wounding Hussey in the back. Hussey was with two female family members and several other acquaintances at the house around 8 p.m. when the argument began, police said.
Hussey, 25, was taken to Nash General Hospital and transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he was in stable condition. Mehus said the subject of the altercation is unclear. No one else was injured.
