A Whitakers man was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after his vehicle collided with a parked vehicle near the intersection of Blaire Street and Freer Drive.

Police said Kelvin Walker was driving on Blaire Street when he hit the corner of a parked vehicle.

The incident happened about 10:45 a.m., said Rocky Mount Police Lt. Michael Paul.

Paul said he was not sure how serious Walker’s injuries were. No one else was injured, Paul said.

Walker’s age was not available Saturday.

Officers at the scene thought Walker might have been under the influence of some sort of impairing substance, Paul said. They are awaiting test results, he said.
