A Rocky Mount man was charged Feb. 17 in connection with repeatedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in a 24-hour period.

Police said the first call to 911 came in just before 1 a.m. on Saturday from a 32-year-old woman who reported her ex-boyfriend damaged her door trying to break-in.

The victim left with officers to take out warrants, but when she returned she reported her home had been broken into again. Two phones and her dog were taken. The suspect reportedly came a third time after officers left and ran when police responded.

Willie Donnell McNair, 37, was charged with two felony counts of residential breaking and entering, felony larceny, two misdemeanor counts of residential breaking and entering and misdemeanor resisting a public officer.

He was jailed in Nash County under a $23,000 secured bond.
