Three people were arrested Thursday on drug charges at a home in Sharpsburg.

The Sharpsburg Police Department, with the assistance of the Rocky Mount Police Department and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, cooperated in serving a search warrant at 102 Martin Luther King Circle.

The four suspects who were arrested are:

Richard Earl Artis of 102 Martin Luther King Circle, Sharpsburg, who was charged with felony possession of 0.5 grams of cocaine.

Sherita Terrell Lee of 247 Camland Circle, Rocky Mount, who was arrested with felony possession of one pill of Ecstasy.

Yvonne McNeill of 102 Martin Luther King Circle, Sharpsburg, who was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of less than a half an ounce of marijuana.

Kenneth Wayne Jones of 9033 Brookfield Drive, Rocky Mount, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a traffic violation.

In addition to the arrests, three guns were seized at the residence. Additional charges are pending in reference to the weapons, a press release from the Sharpsburg Police Department states.

The weapons that were found included a 40-caliber semi-automatic gun, a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun.

In a press release from the Sharpsburg Police Department, Chief Sara Wiggins states that the police department has received numerous complaints about drug activity and loitering at the residence.

“We are working with other with other agencies to try and address the concerns of our department and our residents,” she stated in the release. “It is our goal to make Sharpsburg a safe community for everyone.

She adds that the Sharpsburg department appreciates the cooperation it received from Wilson Sheriff Calvin Woodard and interim Rocky Mount Chief James Thomas.

“The individuals involved in the sell and use of illegal drugs move regularly through each of our communities, so it is vital that we work together,” Wiggins said.
