Rocky Mount police charged five adults and two children on Aug. 27 after an officer witnessed a group of individuals fighting on the 600 block of East Highland Avenue.

According to police reports, two unidentified 12-year-old girls were fighting while adults watched.

Demeka Lashaun Johnson, 35, allegedly joined the fight before responding officers could intervene.

The juveniles were charged with simple affray on juvenile petition.

Johnson, Shaneka Angelique Elijah, 22; Raqualla Maria Elijah, 21; Nakita Demetria Grimes, 37; and Catherine Deloris Johnson, 46, were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. They were all placed in the Edgecombe County jail under $700 secured bonds.
