Castalia man shot during home invasion

A man remains hospitalized after he was shot Sunday night during a home invasion.

Nash County sheriff’s deputies responded shortly before 9 p.m. to a shooting and robbery at a home on the 10000 block of Lancaster Store Road in Castalia. Authorities said the victim, Ortiz Bazan-Trinidad, had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Nash General Hospital. The 55-year-old victim later was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

Officials said the victim was inside his home when four men kicked in his door, shot him multiple times and demanded money. A motive in the robbery is unknown and anyone with information is asked to contact the Nash County Sheriff’s Office at 459-4121.
