Rocky Mount police are investigating the Monday night shooting of a 21-year-old man who was riding his bicycle when he was wounded.

Police Capt. Laura Fahnestock said officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. to the intersection of Rosewood Avenue and North Ferndale Drive, where they found Antoine Montrell Barnes with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Emergency Medical Service personnel transported Barnes to Nash General Hospital. He was transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he was listed in stable but critical condition.

Police said Barnes reportedly was riding his bicycle near his house on Rosewood Avenue when a man shot at him from a gold, newer model Toyota Corolla driven by a woman. The car fled the scene before police arrived.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.

Nice description of the vehicle. I guess the description of the shooter and driver goes without saying?
