A Rocky Mount man was found not guilty Monday of assault on a female.
Archie Lee Pope, 40, was charged with assault on a female for an October incident involving a 34-year-old woman. The victim reportedly told police Pope would not let her leave a house on the 900 block of Leggett Road and she had to stab him to escape. Pope was served with the warrant after he was released from the hospital. The woman did not require medical attention, authorities said.
Pope was found not guilty of the assault in District Court in Edgecombe County.
