18 indicted on federal firearm charges

Rocky Mount police continued with the third phase of Operation Disarm recently, indicting 18 individuals on federal charges in the process.

“This is a continuation of our efforts to rid our community of drug- and gun-related crimes,” Police Chief John Manley said. “We will continue our enforcement efforts to make our city safe from violent crime.”

The first phase of the operation began in March 2009 in conjunction with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to combat guns and violent crime. To date, 72 people have been indicted for charges related to firearm possession by a felon.

Travis Freeman, Tyrone Arrington, Nathan Batchelor, Torrance Johnson and Adentris Martin each were charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Terrace Edwards and Ronnie Whitaker were charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Nicholas Duggins was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm after a drug crime and possession of a stolen firearm, among other charges.

Warren Hart and Derrick Jones each were charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm during a drug crime, among other charges.

Antonio Mitchell was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm during a drug crime and drug conspiracy, among other charges.

Airic Whitaker was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and drug conspiracy, among other charges.

Anthony Parker was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and receive, possess a National Firearms Act weapon.

Mark McKellar was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and armed career criminal.

Joshua Simmers was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possess, ship or transfer after indictment.

Mackey Washington was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, witness tampering and manufacture, possess and distribute a controlled substance.

Nicholas Wheeler was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during a drug crime and manufacture, possess and distribute a controlled substance.

Jamarielle Darden was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, witness tampering, drug conspiracy, possession of firearm during a drug crime and manufacture, possess and distribute a controlled substance.
