  • Wiggins can't abstain on club issue

    In the weeks since the Rocky Mount City Council began discussing rules to govern neighborhood pubs, some of us raised our eyebrows over the involvement of City Councilman Lamont Wiggins, whose father and cousin own a nightclub on Highland Avenue.

  • Gang crime

    I am calling with a comment in reference to the Speak Up where the caller stated Rocky Mount residents have to go inside at night because of all of the gang crime.

    I think this caller needs to unlock his door and come out inside to see what is really going on.

  • It's no easy task to keep the squirrels out of the bird feeders

    I have been retired for a number of years. You know your dreams of retirement, when you sit on the patio, sip a cup of coffee and watch the birds servicing themselves in the bath and feeders? Well, I’ve tried that. I have the patio, the bird feeders and the things to enjoy the birds, and then came the squirrels with all of their friends and kinfolk.
