Anyone who received a Yellow Door Hanger last week knows what happens today.
Local Boy Scouts will be going to those houses around 9 a.m. to collect food donations to take to a local pantry.
Scouting for Food is the single largest one-day food drive in the nation. Generous giving by local families is part of the reason the food drive is so effective.
Boddie-Noell Enterprises Inc. is chipping in by including a Hardee’s coupon as a gift to food donors, as well as being a sponsor of Scouting for Food.
Boy Scouts in the East Carolina Council have collected more than 80,000 pounds of food items for distribution to agencies in 20 North Carolina counties east of Interstate 95.
Learning to help make the community a better place through the giving of time and goods is a lesson the Boy Scouts build on each year.
Donations help reinforce that message that all of us help make the community a better place. So let’s all pitch in to make this food drive a success.
