  • Zoning change would help neighboorhoods

The shape and future of neighborhoods has been a recurring theme of issues facing Rocky Mount these past few years.

From annexation to downtown development to crime, proponents and opponents of each new policy and decision are worried about what the future of Rocky Mount will be if we all sit back and do nothing.

  • Bill Stancil: Cooking your goose while cooking your deer

I don’t have problems cooking venison, usually, except figuring out which cut of meat to cook, and that depends on the ingredients we have on hand. I have clipped recipes from wildlife magazines and copied some from the Internet and received them from people whose venison I have tried.

SPEAK UP

  • Tax preparer not responsible for false statements by payer

I would like to make a comment about Hill’s Tax Services.

Someone needs to explain to the public that a tax preparer will not get in trouble for the untruths that you tell them pertaining to their financial situation.

They will only get in trouble with the IRS for the stories they tell when they file your personal tax return.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

  • There are more humane ways to put down animals

All of us animal lovers need to make it known that Nash County still uses the “gas chamber” to kill strays and unwanted pets.

We live in a day and age where we should be more civilized than this! Those poor animals have to suffer by breathing toxic gas fumes until they can no longer breathe at all.
