Good Samaritans lend a hand to a teenager involved in an accident

I am writing to let people know that in today’s society of looking out for No. 1, there are still some good Samaritans in the world.

Point being, on Feb. 6, my 16-year-old daughter had a single-car accident on N.C. 58, between Sandy Cross and Nashville.

She was not injured, but she did flip her car over and proceeded to climb out of the sunroof. She crawled out of the car and called me, frantically crying. I immediately rushed from work to check on her, and after driving 10 minutes to get to her, she was surrounded by emergency medical technicians and N.C. Highway Patrol officers who were checking to make sure she was OK.

As I ran up to her to see how she was and to be with her a few minutes, I heard the voice of a lady saying, “Haley we are going to go now, I’m glad you are OK.”

I looked up to see a couple standing there and told them in a hurry, “Thank you for stopping,” and then I continued to assist my daughter, and they drove off.

My main concern at that time was for my daughter’s well-being, but as time went on, my wife and I discussed that we were so glad that she did not have to go through that terrible ordeal by herself and we were glad God sent two good Samaritans to help her in her time of need.

In today’s time, so many people do not want to get involved, and this couple stopped and assisted a total stranger, and for that I am very grateful.

I didn’t even get a chance to shake their hands or get their names and addresses to send them a Thank You card. That is the reason I am writing this letter, hoping that they will see it and see that I am thankful for them being there for my daughter. There really are good people in this world. To that couple, the Highway Patrol officers who helped and the EMTs who were there, I would like to say “Thank you, good Samaritans.”
