Experience makes Carpenter best candidate for register of deeds

I am sure most of you are aware of the importance of the records in the Register of Deeds Office and know that these records touch every citizen in Edgecombe County in some way.

The office maintains and issues certificates and copies of records in the office, such as births, marriage licenses, death records, discharges, etc. Other instruments include real estate records such as deeds, deeds of trust, property line agreements, leases, subdivision maps, highway right of ways, plus many more.

These records allow the public (lawyers, citizens in general, real estate agents, surveyors, etc.) access, under supervision, to help establish ownerships of houses, farms, highways, hospitals, etc. When these records have been properly recorded and maintained, as required by law, they offer the public a valuable service.

It takes hands-on working with these documents in order to know how to record them properly. North Carolina statutes dictate what has to be done with each document that is to be filed and recorded. It takes a long time to learn and understand how to handle each one of these documents.

Robin W. Carpenter is the only person who has filed for this office who has worked with and knows the requirements of the office of register of deeds. She has worked in this office since 1990 and was promoted to assistant register of deeds in 1998. She was selected by the Edgecombe County Democratic Party and appointed by the Edgecombe County commissioners to fill an unexpired term. She ran for register of deeds in 2008 and was elected at that time to a full term of four years. In 2007, during the unexpired term, she was certified by the Institute of Government as a certified register of deeds. She continues to study in workshops on indexing guidelines, electronic recordings, as well as other changes.

I know these statements to be true because I hired and trained Robin Carpenter during my tenure as Register of Deeds of Edgecombe County.

Please vote for Robin W. Carpenter to remain Register of Deeds of Edgecombe County.
