RICHMOND, VA. - Leslie Claire Harrelson and Duncan Powell Blackwell were united in marriage on Saturday, September 7th, 2013, in Powell Chapel at Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Va.
The Reverend Micah Voraritskul officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ryland Lee Harrelson of Columbus, Ga.
She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mildred N. Thompson of Nashville, N C , the late Lester Bryant Thompson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Monroe Harrelson.
The bride graduated from James Madison University and is the owner of RVA Business Solutions.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Franklin Martin of Midlothian, Va. and the late Mr. James Dulany Blackwell, formerly of Richmond, Va.
He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. Karl Sigmund Blackwell and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Brehm .
The groom is a graduate of The University of Tennessee.
He is employed by Bon Secours Health Systems at St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Va. as a surgical technician.
The bride, escorted by her father , was given in marriage by her parents.
She was attended by Miss Heather Morrow of Atlanta, Ga. as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Lisa Eickel of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Elizabeth Waring of Norfolk, Va., Miss Mollie Walker of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Rebecca Craig of Charleston, SC, Mrs. Jennifer Harrelson and Mrs. Elizabeth Stone, both of Richmond, Va.
The bride carried lockets on her bouquet containing photos of her deceased grandparents.
Mr. Paul Davis, Jr. of Richmond, Va. was the groom’s best man.
Groomsmen included Mr. James Blackwell, Jr., Mr. Bryan Lee Harrelson and Mr. Taylor Stone, all of Richmond, Va., Mr. Scott Hoehne of Sandy Hook, Va. , Mr. Alan Parks of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Mr. M. Jason Gallaher of Nashville, Tennessee.
Greeters for the service were Mrs. Ruth Tapscott of Charlottesville, Va. and Miss Elizabeth White of Richmond, Va.
Readers were Miss Allyson Wyld and Miss Ashley Strange, both of Richmond, Va.
Music was provided by Mr. Bob Mayo on the organ.
Soloists were guitarist Miss Jamie Thompson of Kinston, NC and pianist Miss Laura Thompson of Swansboro, NC.
The wedding director was Mrs. Kathy Driver .
A luncheon honoring the bridesmaids and other wedding participants was hosted at Hondos in Richmond on Friday, September 6th by Mrs. Mildred N. Thompson, grandmother of the bride, Miss Claire Thompson, aunt of the bride and Mrs. Ryland Harrelson, mother of the bride.
Following the bridesmaid’s luncheon, a spa celebration was hosted for the bride and her bridesmaids by Miss Heather Morrow of Atlanta and Mrs. Martha Paull of Columbus, Ga.
An after- rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean F. Martin, at Richmond Country Club on Friday evening, September 6th.
Following the wedding ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Country Club of Virginia.
After a honeymoon trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple now resides in Richmond, Va.
