Mr. and Mrs. Willie W. Johnson of Whitakers celebrated their 65th anniversary on Jan. 2, 2012 at their home, with a private dinner hosted by their children.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson received a card of congratulations from President and Mrs. Obama.
The Johnson’s have nine children James (Donna), Joseph (Laura), Hazel, Gregory, Garry (Laura), Deloris Bryant (Lee), Darell, Annette Dyer, and Mary Mann (William).
They have 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The Johnson’s were married on Jan. 2, 1947 in Halifax County by Rev. Bynum.
Mrs. Johnson is the former Evlin B. Bellamy.
