Nash County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the purchase of property in the Middlesex Corporate Center on Monday during their monthly meeting.

The 26.65-acre plot would be purchased for $65,000 from the Marie Baines and heirs and used for economic development purposes.

In addition, the board will vote on a number of other items, including deciding whether to add a sergeant position to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, the selection of an engineering firm for the Golden LEAF sewer project and an amendment that would allow the county to extend sewer service from Area 1 west along the N.C. 97 corridor to include service to all quadrants surrounding the Interstate 95-N.C. 97 interchange.

The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Claude Mayo Jr. Administration Building in
Nashville.
