Tiliah Murphy of Tarboro has qualified as a state finalist in the N.C. National American Miss Pageant.

Murphy, 13, will travel to Winston-Salem on June 27-30 to compete for the title of Ms. N.C. Jr. Teen National American Miss. The pageant’s areas of competition are interview, personal and self expression and formal wear.

If crowned, Murphy will win $1,000 and a modeling scholarship. She also will have the opportunity to travel to California in November to compete for the title of National American Jr. Teen if she is chosen as a top finalist in any area of competition.

Murphy attends Rocky Mount Preparatory School, where she is an honor-roll student and co-captain of the cheerleading squad. She is the daughter of Damione and Latricia Jones.
