The wintry weather might have pushed back the final day of the regular season, but it won’t keep the the Big East Conference from settling its rivalries.

Tonight’s scheduled action has been moved to Saturday because of Nash-Rocky Mount’s cancelation.

Make-up games orginally scheduled for Wednesday have been canceled.

Rocky Mount High and Northern Nash will play a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. It’s the second game of the season between the two rivals. Junior varsity games will be played prior to varsity action. Northern Nash, which is the third-ranked team in the state and already has wrapped up the Big East Conference regular season title, won the previous girls’ matchup.

Rocky Mount’s boys’ and girls’ teams are both locked into the No. 2 seeds for the Big East Conference Tournament, which begins Monday night at Rocky Mount High School with the girls’
quarterfinals.

Nash Central and Southern Nash also will play Saturday. The girls are scheduled to tipoff at 1 p.m. with the boys’ game estimated to begin at 2:30 p.m.

Rocky Mount Academy will play in the Eastern Plains Independent Conference semifinals at 4 p.m. at Rocky Mount Academy. The No. 2 Eagles will face No. 3 seed Raleigh St. David’s with a chance to make the championship, scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.

The NCHSAA 3-A East Region individual wrestling tournament also has been pushed back.

Weigh-in will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with early-round action to follow at Rocky Mount High School. The championship rounds are scheduled for Sunday.
