Rocky Mount police are investigating an early morning shooting on Thursday on Charter Drive in which a 46-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
At 12:08 a.m., officers responded to 1601 Charter Drive in reference to calls of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim and homeowner, Timothy Battle, in the yard of the residence bleeding from his wounds.
Battle was taken to Nash General Hospital and then Vidant Health in Greenville where he is listed in stable condition, authorities said.
Rocky Mount police Cpl. Mike Lewis said investigators are working the case, but no arrests have been made and authorities do not have a description of any suspects.
