A Rocky Mount man was jailed early Thursday after authorities said he barricaded himself and four others in a house on the 300 block of Park Avenue.
Authorities said officers responded just before 7 p.m. to a domestic disturbance, but when police arrived Brian Keith Thorne Jr. ran into the house. According to police reports, Thorne refused to come out or let four others, including three juveniles, leave the residence. Officers persuaded Thorne to release the four others after about an hour, but Thorne didn’t surrender until about 10:30 p.m. No one was injured in the incident.
Thorne, 29, was charged with four felony counts of second-degree kidnapping and misdemeanor resisting a public officer. Thorne also was served with several outstanding warrants. He was jailed in Edgecombe County under a $51,000 secured bond.
