Rocky Mount police are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found Friday night inside a house on Lessie Trail.
Police say one of the deaths is being treated as a homicide; the other is considered a “suspicious death.”
Police Cpl. Mike Lewis said officers responded around 11:40 p.m. to a report of a shooting at a house on the 4300 block of Lessie Trail.
Authorities found the bodies of a 41-year-old Norfolk, Va., woman and a 59-year-old Rocky Mount man dead inside the house. The victims’ identities are being withheld by authorities pending notification of the victims’ families, but the bodies were transported to Greenville for autopsies.
“This is considered a suspicious death case,” Lewis said. “No arrests have been made, and we are not seeking additional suspects at this time. We are awaiting results from the medical examiner’s office.”
Lewis said the man lived at the house where the shooting occurred and a dispute between the acquaintances led to the incident.
