A medical examiner ruled the death of a man whose body was found Monday in Aycock Park was a suicide.
Rocky Mount police Cpl. Mike Lewis said visitors to the park called officials just before 9 a.m. to report an injured person in the park at 1200 Aycock Street. Authorities said Scott Lamont Ragland Jr., 25, was dead when help arrived, and his body was taken to Greenville for an autopsy. A firearm was recovered near the scene, according to police reports.
Lewis said Ragland’s last known address was in Daytona, Fla., but the 25-year-old was known to visit family in Rocky Mount.
