Accident kills Charlotte man, blocks I-10 near Baton Rouge hours

GROSSE TETE, La. — A North Carolina man was killed in an accident on Interstate 10.

The victim of Wednesday night's crash was identified as 47-year-old Christopher Attinelli of Charlotte.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. in Iberville Parish, west of Baton Rouge.

The westbound lanes of I-10 were closed until around 12:30 a.m. Thursday as a result of the accident.

Authorities said Attinelli's eastbound car crossed the median into the westbound lanes and hit a pickup truck. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
