NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — It was a rough holiday season for Jessy the cockatoo, but all is well now.

Two people broke into the office at the Hawaiian Rumble Mini Golf course on Dec. 23 and wrestled with the bird for two hours before removing it from its cage.

But police, with the help of an informant, tracked down the missing bird in North Carolina, and it was returned on New Year's Day.

Course owner Bob Detwiler said Jessy doesn't like to be handled and got down in the bottom of the cage and bit the thieves. Warrants have been issued for two people in the theft.

Jessy has been a popular attraction at the course for 15 years.
