Nash County Sheriff’s deputies have identified a suspect in connection with two skeletons found Sept. 7 on Quarter Road.
Investigators obtained warrants against Jorge Alfredo Urias Sanchez, 32, for two counts of first-degree murder. He is at large. His last known address was in Sandusky, Mich., according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office.
Capt. Pat Joyner said two men riding four-wheelers discovered the skeletons while scouting hunting locations on private property. Investigators believe the victims were two Battleboro men named Juan Rodriguez, also known as Refugio Ponce Diaz, 51, and Fermin Jimenez, 29, according to the press release.
“This investigation is continuing and we are working with the Mexican consulate to positively identify the victims through DNA and family members,” Joyner said in a press release.
The victims reportedly were acquaintances of Sanchez.
Joyner said investigators believe the victims died around May of this year, but their cause of death is being withheld.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sanchez is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 459-4121. Tips also can be reported to Crime Stoppers at 977-1111.
