NEWPORT — An autopsy shows a Carteret County woman whose body was found last week died from blows to head.

The autopsy on the body of 90-year-old Goldie Hall was performed Monday at the medical examiner's office in Greenville.

Hall's body was found last Thursday afternoon.

Thirty-year-old Rhonda William Hagan of Newport has been arrested and charged with killing her great aunt.

Police say Hall had been missing since a Sept. 20 fire at her home. The fire was contained to the kitchen of the house, but Hall was not inside and could not be located.

Investigators think Hagan killed Hall the day of the fire.
