Edgecombe County Sheriff’s deputies have charged a 20-year-old man in connection with a July 25 home invasion in Tarboro.

According to police reports, two suspects kicked in the front door of a residence on Clark Street in Tarboro, then assaulted the homeowner with a hammer and took his car keys.

Marshall Lee Stiles Jr. was charged with first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods and felony possession of burglary tools. He was placed in the Edgecombe County jail under a $255,000 secured bond.

Sheriff James Knight said the second suspect has not been identified, but the investigation is ongoing.
