A 38-year-old man is listed in fair condition following an early morning shooting at a convenience store.
Rocky Mount police Lt. Brian McGrath said Barry Sears was at the Below the Track store at 125 W. Grand Ave. when he allegedly got into an altercation with a store employee.
Police said Hany Shehadeh, 38, shot Sears one time. Sears reportedly fled the store and called police at 3:03 a.m. from his house nearby. Sears was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Investigators charged Shehadeh with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm within the city limits. He was jailed in Nash County under a $100,000 secured bond.
