Nearly 500 dog lovers and their furry friends are expected to attend Paws in the Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Park.
The second year of the event is expected to be larger than the first with 21 vendors, seven contests, five raffles and presentations by the police and the fire departments, Parks and Recreation Director Dale Smith said. Dog owners must register upon arrival and show verification of vaccinations. All of the events are free.
At noon, volunteers will judge a costume contest and at 12:10 p.m. owners can go through a dog obstacle course with their pets. A contest to find the dog who does the best trick will take place at 1 p.m. and a demonstration of the police dogs will start at 1:20 p.m.
