One woman had to be extricated from her car just before 1 p.m. Wednesday after she was involved in a four-vehicle collision.
Rocky Mount police Sgt. Milton Wiggins said Taylor Nicole Jordan, 17, exited U.S. 64 at Buck Leonard Boulevard in a Toyota pick-up truck when she failed to slow down to turn onto Zebulon Road. Jordan missed the turn lane and her truck collided with a 2009 Kia Rondo stopped to turn left onto Buck Leonard Boulevard.
The driver of the Rondo, Candace Bass, said her car spun around and hit a Ford Taurus waiting at the light while the truck also hit the Taurus then hit Gloria Johnson’s 2006 Dodge minivan.
“I looked up and the truck was just coming towards us,” Johnson said. “There was nothing we could do.”
Rescue crews had to cut the car apart to remove the driver of the Taurus, Christine Peace. She and the passenger, Julian Peace, were taken to Nash General Hospital.
Emergency Medical Service personnel checked the other drivers and passengers out at the scene, but no one else was taken to the hospital.
Jordan was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

Kudos to Emergency Responders
My son & I were at the scene shortly after the crash happened. The police, fire & rescue who responded to the scene worked in complete coordination with each other. There didn't seem to be any confusion among the 3 departments which probably helped all involved in the crash.
