Wreck sends two to hospital

From Staff Reports

Friday, October 23, 2009

Two motorists were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries Friday in a two-car accident in Rocky Mount.

Emergency crews treated Faghie Awadallah at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Noell Drive and Hunter Hill Road. Awadallah’s Chevy Uplander was totalled when it collided into the side of an on-coming Dodge Stratus, authorities said.

The unidentified man driving the Stratus apparently swerved left of center to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle turning left from Hunter Hill Road onto Noell Drive, witnesses said.

“We heard brakes squealing from behind us, and the next thing we knew he swerved to the left and hit the van coming from the opposite direction,” witness Tonya Glover said.

The driver of the Stratus also was treated at the scene for cuts to his head. Both men were taken to Nash General Hospital for further treatment.

In an unrelated incident Friday afternoon, four people were hospitalized following a three-vehicle accident on U.S. 301 south of Sharpsburg in Wilson County.

Two people were flown to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville for critical injuries after two cars slammed into the back of a truck stopped for a school bus, an N.C. Highway Patrol official said. The bus was not impacted in the crash

Troopers said details of the accident, including the names of those involved and the extent of their injuries, would not be available by presstime.

You people don't know what you're talking about. It's not illegal to take pictures of plates or people at an accident scene. You don't need the plates anyway. The names are on the police report downtown. Nothing illegal about this folks, sorry.

I guess that's why they did away with the red light cameras...!!
