A woman was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95.
N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Tim Pope said officials responded just after 7 p.m. to the crash at mile marker 141 near Halifax Road. The woman was driving a vehicle with South Carolina license plates that reportedly careened off the roadway to the left, struck a median and went airborne before colliding with a bridge support column, he said.
The woman was dead when emergency crews arrived, Pope said. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
