Rocky Mount police are looking for a white Honda Civic in connection with a double homicide that occurred Sunday night on Pender Street.
Rocky Mount police Cpl. Mike Lewis said around 11:15 p.m. Randy Levon Elliott, 22, and Demon Freeman, 22, were in a 1997 Cadillac Seville in front of Elliott’s family home on the 800 block of Pender Street when the suspect’s vehicle pulled alongside the victims and opened fire. The suspects were last scene speeding off in a white Honda, possibly two-door Civic with factory hubcaps.
Elliott and Freeman were taken to Nash General Hospital, where Elliott died. Freeman was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville where he died.
One neighbor, who refused to give his name, said he was at a house down the block when the shooting happened.
“I just heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, and ducked down in my chair,” he said.
Other neighbors were visibly distraught by the double homicide, but refused to talk about what happened. An earlier report from neighbors who said a third man was inside the victims' vehicle has been determined to be false, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information on the homicide or on five other Sunday shootings is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.

lets see.... The city on the rise had 6 shootings, two cuttings, and a fight at the mall to deal with this past weekend. Two more young black men have lost their lives. There is a serious problem in our town and no one wants to address it. The black leaders and successful black business people of Rocky Mount need to come together and address the REAL problems Rocky Mount has before it is to late. There is a problem in the black community and black people must address it. White people would be called racist and scorned if they tried to help.

A double murder in Rocky Mount?? Say it aint so. the new police chief has some new tactics he wants to try. He is not worried about the street level crime. He wants to send all of his top people to some school and wants to hire a lawyer to be on 24 hr call. Just tell the cops to get out on the streets and start knocking some people around. The criminals have no reason to be afraid to commit crimes. The police can't solve any crimes and they won't go where most of the criminals are. If it looks like a criminal and acts like a criminal it must be a criminal...wow and I didn't even go to the cop school or call a lawyer.

Can someone please tell me when we started posting mugshots of people that are victims of violent crime. There is nothing in this article that states these boys were anything but victims of a violent random act. Why are we humiliating their families with these mugshots? These families have spoken to the media about this and provided pictures...why do we feel the need to make sure everyone knows at the time of their death that they had previously made mistakes in their life?

Guns
My heart goes out to the families of the lost love ones. My opinion on this is to get the guns off the streets and the killing will stop or decrease.I dont know what may have cause this to happen but i know taking a life is NOT of GOD. Nobody may not want to talk but when God sits up high and looks down low he will reveal it all,Nothing is a secret. I pray the family get closure soon and very soon.
